Grand Palace Hotel Malang is one part of the history of hospitality in Indonesia. From various Indonesian Tourism books from time to time, the Palace Hotel Malang was recorded as a hotel that was already present during the Dutch colonial era. Some areas that had hotels at that time, besides the Palace Hotel Malang, were Jakarta with the construction of Hotel Des Indes, Hotel Der Nederlanden, Hotel Royal and Hotel Rijswijk. Surabaya, stands Hotel Sarkies and Hotel Oranje. For Central Java there are in Semarang with Hotel Du Pavillion, Solo, Slier Hotel and Yogyakarta with Grand Hotel (now Hotel Garuda, ed). In West Java, namely Bandung, there are Savoy Homann Hotel, Preanger Hotel and Pension Van Hangel (now Panghegar Hotel, ed) and in Bogor with Salak Hotel. Amazingly, most of these hotels are still operating today. Some have become Herritage Hotels, some have been renovated for the better and some have been totally redeveloped so that they no longer resemble their original form, such as Hotel Des Indes. Malang with its Palace Hotel still stands majestically while maintaining the various shapes and styles that were built during the Dutch colonial era.
